Gym Sled Maintenance and Care
Gym Sled Maintenance and Care
In building Gym Sleds for weight room and fitness use, Rep Fitness attempts to make durable strength training equipment. Gym Sleds, like all workout equipment, require some basic maintenance to continue safe and effective use.
Inspect the Frame and Welds
After each use inspect all welds along with the upright frame for any signs of hairline cracks, sharp edges or any frame movement. Hairline cracks in welds can spread quickly under heavy load. Disable sled and seek prompt repair.
Clean the Uprights and Post-Hole Channels
All the channels where the posts go through are prone to corrosion from the sweat and turf and rubber dust that gets in there. Wipe the uprights down with a damp cloth after every use and use a thin brush or pipe cleaner to clean out the channels. Dry them off before storing.
Check the Skis or Feet
Check the skis or feet. Make sure that the skis are not worn or cracked as this will alter the tracking of the gym sled and potentially scratch the floor surface. Check the underside of the gym sled on a monthly basis. Most manufacturers will supply replacement skis and the feet are usually a simple bolt-on affair that can be swapped in minutes.
Lubricate the Post Collar
This part of the sled should be able to move freely. Lubricate this area every four to six weeks using silicone spray or a dry lubricant. Avoid oil based products, as these will attract dirt and gripe even more as time passes.
Store It Correctly
Store your sled in an upright position or on its side with a rubber mat. Other storage options for a Gym Sled are listed here https://uk.repfitness.com/collections/gym-sleds/.
Like any piece of heavy weight lifting equipment, the Gym Sled just needs a little bit of routine care and it will last you a lifetime.
